Travel & Lodging Information

Getting Here For the 20th Anniversary

The nearest airport is La Aurora International Airport (GUA). If you arrive on an evening flight, we recommend that you spend the night in Guatemala City, as the travel time to Santiago Atitlan is around 3.5 hours.

Transportation Options from Guatemala City to Santiago Atitlán:

To get to Santiago Atitlán, there are both private and shared shuttle options. Private shuttles are available, the price is $140.00 tzututrans@yahoo.com o WhatsApp +502 5346-5911 (Nicolás) for pick up at hotel or airport, directly to Santiago Atitlán. Trip takes about 4 hours, the driver will stop for meals or shopping.

Public shuttle companies we recommend are Xocomil Tours and Atitrans. Shared buses will take you from the airport or hotel to Panajachel ($35.00 about five hours) . From Pana, you can take a “lancha,” a shared boat taxi, across the lake to Santiago (25Q – $3.25). Arrival to Panajachel after 6pm requires an overnight stay, or a private boat across the lake ($100).

Please note, we do not recommend traveling by public buses (“camionetas’) for safety reasons.
